After graduation, Chip worked for over two and a half years at a small accounting firm before joining Wathen, DeShong & Juncker in August of 1996. He developed specialties in small business consulting and information technology and obtained his CPA certificate in 1996.

Chip’s goal is to be a cherished business advisor to his clients. The thrill of helping business owners succeed and ultimately relax in that success really gets his blood pumping. Chip’s training and experience with various industries make him uniquely equipped to serve as a trusted business advisor to clients. He acquires and disseminates valuable knowledge and insight to business owners that steer their businesses toward success and allow entrepreneurs to get back to doing what they are passionate about whether it is sales or service.

As a CPA, his tax practice focuses on planning for individuals and small businesses. Tax considerations often provide a catalyst for him to be an unbiased sounding board for his clients’ decision-making process. What distinguishes Chip’s tax practice from others is his ability to plan for and minimize the tax impact of various transactions or decisions, more importantly helping clients comprehend the economics and related factors.

Chip became Certified in QuickBooks ProAdvisor in 1999 and obtained his CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional) credential in 2006. For over 20 years he has been successfully advising clients on technology issues and bridging the gap between the information needs of the business and the IT systems that can provide the information.

In 2014 Chip became a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). CGMA resources enable him to advise clients about business strategy, benchmarking and innovation as well as finance, operations, management accounting, and reporting. Chip employs and develops tools and processes to provide clients insight and foresight into business decision-making. In 2019, he became a Level 5 Certified Advisor (L5CA). As a strategic partner, he coaches management teams to implement plans for growth with results-oriented accountability. Chip believes providing better business intelligence combined with continuous improvement facilitates predictable, accelerated and sustainable business success for his clients.
